Bexley is the proud host of a number of private educational institutions including the renowned leader in all-female education, The Columbus School for Girls. Established in 1898, the campus includes a collection of handsome buildings near Drexel Circle. Bexley is also home to one of Ohio's most prominent all-male parochial secondary institutions, St. Charles Preparatory School. Its academic activity is housed in a striking Spanish Colonial Revival Style structure erected on the banks of Alum Creek in 1925.
Bexley is also home to Capital University, a fully accredited institution affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The notable conservatory of music is a bounty to Bexley residents who enjoy concerts at the university's recital hall throughout the year.
Adjacent to the university on Main Street is the Trinity Lutheran Theological Seminary, one of the only and oldest such institutions in the region. The seminary draws students from all parts of the world.
Notable schools in the area include Ohio Dominican University, Columbus State Community College, Franklin University, Columbus College of Art and Design, Capital University's Law School at their downtown campus, and of course The Ohio State University.
Located elsewhere in central Ohio are Otterbein College, Ohio Wesleyan University, Denison University, Kenyon College, and branch campuses of Ohio University and The Ohio State University.
Bexley City Schools
Bexley's public school system has preserved a reputation of excellence for decades and is consistently recognized as a leading educational institution nationwide. In 1997, Governor Voinovich recognized the school system as one of the highest performing school districts in Ohio. All schools in the district are chartered by the State of Ohio and are accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. With a total enrollment of 2,076, Bexley boasts a low student-teacher ratio of 15.4:1. The Ohio Department of Education's 2007-2008 Report Card gave Bexley Schools a rating of Excellent with Distinction.
