September 2, 2022 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Capital University, E Main St & College Ave, Bexley, OH 43209, USA
This September, Green Bexley is exploring the most impactful actions we can take to be more sustainable. Inspired by Project Drawdown and sponsored by the Bexley Community Foundation, Capital University, and Simply Living, we’re excited to learn alongside you and take action towards a more sustainable future!
Ambitious action is required to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and keep the increase in average global temperature below 2—but preferably 1.5—degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. Unfortunately, we’ve already raised the temperature by over 1 degree since 1880. The actions must be big, and they must be implemented on a large-scale, worldwide.
Not all actions are equal, and not all actions are applicable. This month, we’re exploring the most impactful actions that can be taken by Bexleyites, and hope you’ll join us! Find more information at greenbexley.org/sustainableseptember.

Topic of the Week: PLANT-RICH DIETS

“Animal agriculture is a significant source of greenhouse gas emissions. Favoring plant-based foods reduces demand, thereby reducing land clearing, fertilizer use, and greenhouse gas emissions.” — Project Drawdown

Enjoy views of downtown Columbus, including local landmarks like the Ohio Statehouse, Nationwide Children's Hospital, and historic German Village, as well as tours of Bexley, Upper Arlington, Grandview Heights, and The Ohio State University.
24 miles are represented by a patient at Nationwide Children’s, one is dedicated as an Angel Mile for the special children who have been taken too soon, and one is an “alumni mile” for Marathon Mile Champions from past years. These patients and their families will be beside every mile of the course to cheer on participants and serve as a visual reminder of how you, along with the marathon, are helping ill and injured children through your participation.

Christine French Cully, Editor In Chief of Highlights, will discuss the why, what, and how of Hidden Pictures—a visual puzzle made famous by the iconic children’s publisher headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. Beginning with the very first issue, published in June 1946, Highlights magazine has included a Hidden Pictures puzzle in every issue—and many collections of these puzzles are available in book format, as well as in a digital app.
Christine will share examples of the various kinds of Hidden Pictures puzzles—the classic black-and-white illustration, the full-color puzzles, the puzzles created from cut paper or photographs, the super challenging puzzles, and the puzzles created for beginners. The small hidden objects may be all the same or each one different—and the larger illustration always hints at a story, often humorous. For decades, the art was reflective art, but these days it is usually created digitally.

April 22, 2023 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
Bexley City Police Department, 559 N Cassingham Rd, Bexley, OH 43209, USA
The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day addresses a crucial public safety and public health issue. According to the 2019 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 9.7 million people misused prescription pain relievers, 4.9 million people misused prescription stimulants, and 5.9 million people misused prescription tranquilizers or sedatives in 2019. The survey also showed that a majority of misused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet.
The DEA’s Take Back Day events provide an opportunity for Americans to prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths. If you have expired or unused medications (pill or liquid) around your home, please consider properly discarding them on April 22 between 10:00 am - 2:00 pm at the Bexley Police Station, 559 N.
