Chief of Police Search Process
In early 2022, Bexley embarked on a search for a new chief of police after the retirement of Chief Larry Rinehart, who served with the department for 14 years. The process for selecting a new Chief is outlined in the City Charter, with the Mayor charged with selecting and appointing the Chief, subject to confirmation by City Council.
The search process has begun, and is in the initial public engagement portion of the process. The City has contracted with Ralph Andersen and Associates to perform the search and assist through the candidate selection process, and has contracted with the Saunders Company to assist with community engagement efforts. Throughout the process, community engagement will be prioritized both in creation of a candidate profile and in the selection of a final candidate.
Any additional feedback regarding what you would like to see take place during the search process is welcome; please email mayor@bexley.org.
Keep an eye on this page for updates regarding the search process, and for opportunities to provide your feedback in community surveys and workshops!
