July 3 - Evening Festivities & Fireworks

We’re gearing up for another great Independence Day celebration in Bexley, with bounce houses, music, and food on Capital’s Lawn followed by a mesmerizing fireworks display near the Capital Student Union.

While we can’t wait for the Independence Day fun, when planning our evening events, keeping our community safe is a top priority. In an effort to enhance security and event management, we’re making some changes to our security protocols for this year’s evening celebrations and fireworks display on Capital’s Lawn. Please pay attention to the following enhancements:

• Event Entry Points
Our evening celebrations are open to the public, but the event will be secure with controlled access points. Event access will be via two entry points: Mound and Pleasant Ridge, and Drexel and Main.
• Security Screening
Security screening will include modern pole metal detectors and bag screening. All bags will be screened for weapons and illegal paraphernalia only.
• Event Wristbands Required
Event wristbands will be required for entry, and will be provided to individuals 18 and over, or to minors who are with or have been provided one by a parent or guardian. Only individuals with a wristband will be allowed in the event area. IDs to verify age will be required to obtain a wristband in advance or gain access to the event day of.
• No Unaccompanied Minors without an Event Wristband
Parents and guardians will have an opportunity to pick up wristbands ahead of time to provide to minor(s) in their care. Otherwise, kids under age 18 will need to be with a parent or guardian in order to gain access to the event.

How to Get Your Wristbands

• In Advance: For those who wish to secure wristbands for their family in advance, we will begin distributing wristbands at City Hall starting on Monday, June 29 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
• At the Event: Bring your ID to either event entrance to get your wristbands as you enter the event; this anticipated to be a quick process.
