4th of July in Bexley
Independence Day celebrations in Bexley begin with the annual John Barr 5k, followed by the legendary parade, community celebration on Main Street, and a mesmerizing display of fireworks. You won't want to miss this one!
This year's celebrations bring more music, more excitement, and more fireworks than ever before. Whether you're running in the 5K, catching candy at the parade, hitting up a neighborhood block party, dancing to the Big Rockin' Blues Band, or "ooooohh" and "aaaahhhh"-ing at the fireworks, it's going to be a big day, Bexley! A huge thank you to the scores of volunteers that work year round to help plan and fundraise for these events – your community appreciates you. 4th of July Overview
The City of Bexley is excited to announce that all traditional Independence Day celebrations are taking place on Monday, July 4! Celebrations will include the John Barr 5k, parade, evening celebrations, and fireworks. See below for the schedule of events. Please note, times are subject to change.
The John Barr 5k, presented by Bexley Automotive, is a run that is routed through Bexley, commencing from and returning to Jeffrey Mansion at 165 N. Parkview Avenue. The race begins at 8:00 am sharp, which will leave plenty of time after the race to watch or participate in the parade.
Pre-Registration Fee:
$30 through July 3 at 11:59 pm
Day of Fee: $35 (Starting at 7:00 am)
Race Packet Pickup at Jeffrey Mansion:
- Wednesday, June 29, 9:30 am - 6:00 pm
- Thursday, June 30, 9:30 am - 6:00 pm
- Friday, July 1, 9:30 am - 12:00 pm
If a participant cannot pickup their race packet ahead of time, packets can be picked up the morning of the race at Jeffrey Mansion. All participants will receive a race bag.

Bexley Parade

Starts at 9:30 am
The 4th of July parade begins at 9:30 am at Remington and Maryland, and follows the same route as 2021, extending one block further into south Bexley than in years past in order to allow viewers to spread out a bit more in the most congested area of the route. We've got a great lineup this year - can't wait to see you on the route!

All evening celebrations and festivities will take place on Capital University's Main Street lawn. Please be aware parking may be difficult. Residents and guests are encouraged to walk, bike, or utilize public transportation getting to the event!
