Earlier this week, City crews began the third and final cycle of leaf collection in Bexley. We’ve experienced some warm and wet weather conditions over the past several months, which has caused the leaves to stay on trees longer than the usually do, and on several occasions heavy, water-logged leaves have led to equipment failure and maintenance downtime, putting us further behind. As a result, we know several residents have been frustrated by the slower-than-normal pickup cycle.
Please note the following as we begin the third round of pickup:
- Crews will be collecting leaves on Saturday, December 11 to help catch up.
- We’re enhancing our online updates to make sure route info is clear and predictable.
- Even after the third round of pickup, crews will continue to pickup additional leaf piles as long as the weather is viable for pickup and demand remains.
- Grass is now dormant with the onset of frost. Grass that appears dead under leaf piles should grow back healthy in the spring.
Thank you for your understanding and patience, and a big thanks to our crews for working overtime to try to keep on top of community need. For daily updates on leaf collection status, please visit bexley.org/leafpickup21.
