Bexley’s Landmark Tree program honors the remarkable trees planted by past generations and ensures their legacy continues for decades to come. Each year, residents are invited to nominate exceptional trees—whether for their historical significance, impressive size, unique shape, striking coloration, or rarity. Landmark Trees can be located on both public and private property, so be sure to keep an eye out for a standout specimen in your neighborhood. The 2025 Landmark Tree program is highlighting the White Oak (Quercus alba), a species known for its strength, longevity, and beauty. If you know of an outstanding White Oak, submit a nomination here and help us recognize another exceptional tree in Bexley.
Curbside Leaf Pickup – Begins 10/21
While some leaves are falling in Bexley, these are the result of the drought conditions in Central Ohio and not part of our typical seasonal leaf fall. The prolonged low levels of rainfall we are currently experiencing in Bexley are causing a variety of effects on our arboretum including browning, leaf curling, and earlier than usual leaf loss on some trees. Our annual curbside leaf pickup program will not begin for a few weeks. In the meantime, we encourage residents to mulch the leaves into your lawn which is healthy for your grass and many other important organisms. Leaves can also be bagged for weekly yard waste pickup. Arbor Day in Bexley
The Territory of Nebraska hosted the first Arbor Day in April of 1882. Now all fifty states celebrate Arbor Day, and as the Frist Municipal Arboretum in the United States, Bexley has many ways to celebrate trees!
Tree Planting with Jeffrey Mansion Preschoolers
