Yard Sale & Freecycle Day
This annual event is a great opportunity for residents to discard unwanted, usable items and re-home them to neighbors. Conversely, residents are able to obtain new-to-them items for a fraction of the price. In addition to keeping items out of the landfill, these events allow residents the opportunity to mingle and enjoy the outdoors!

Program Details & Registration
Saturday, May 14 from 8:00 am - 1:00 pm - Community Yard Sale:
The Community Yard Sale will run from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. Any resident may host a yard sale, provided they register with City Hall. Yard sales may be held in the front yard for this one day only, but may not be held on or in front of the sidewalk or in the street. Registration is free!
Saturday, May 14 from 1:00 - 5:00 pm – Community Freecycle Event:
The Community Freecycle event will run from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, immediately following the community yard sale. During these hours, residents may place items that are unsold between the sidewalk and the curb. Items that do not fit in this area may be placed directly behind the sidewalk (between the sidewalk and the house). Items or groupings of items must be clearly marked as free for the taking, and must be marked "Freecycle Day."
Leftover Items? Donate Them!
Any items not taken by 5:00 pm on Sunday must be removed from the front yard and disposed of or recycled via other means.

Additional Information
Nope! We ask that you indicate whether you'll be hosting a yard sale, freecycle event, or both upon registering.
No, that is not mandatory. If you'd like to indicate that your items are free for taking, we've created this permission slip that you can print and display during your freecycle sale.
The City will advertise this event throughout May, leading up to May 14. Ultimately, the advertisement of individual sales is up to the person hosting the sale. We will be creating an interactive map of locations participating in this event, but we recommend if you're hosting a yard sale that you share the information with family, friends, and neighbors!
Bexley Yard Sale & Freecycle Day happens rain or shine! It is up to the individual host whether they have items out for sale in the event of inclement weather.
No, it is the responsibility of the owner to supply them. We recommend sharing materials with a neighbor, family member, or a friend who is also hosting a sale!
Piles for Smiles is a community-wide yard sale event that allows homeowners to donate some or all the proceeds from their yard sale to Magical Moments Foundation, the only wish granting charity in the US serving children with facial differences that are the result of genetic conditions, congenital anomalies, cancer treatment, severe trauma, and burns. Magical Moments Foundation creates magical adventures and experiences that provide comfort, inspiration, and encouragement to children that face the world with a difference and that endure the long-lasting pain and emotional scars of teasing, bullying, and appearance-related stigma.
You can assist by pledging to donate a portion of your yard sale proceeds to the organization. By participating in Piles for Smiles, families can dispose of their gently used items, earn some cash, have some fun, and help make children’s dreams come true! All donations are tax deductible.
Upon registering, if a registrant selects 'Yes' to participating in this program, a free Piles for Smiles yard sale toolkit–including including yard signs, price stickers, brochures, and a helpful tip sheet–will be mailed to the address provided!
