The 2022 NOW MUSIC Festival will feature a young composer, Omar Thomas, who has been a strong new voice in the world of band and jazz music. His residency at Capital University, Feb. 15-19, 2022 will include a keynote address, a series of concerts of the band, jazz, chamber, and solo repertoire, performed by the faculty, students, and other local musicians and ensembles, and a masterclass with students-composers.
Additionally, the Festival’s concerts will include music by Capital faculty and other local composers, student-composers, and a multimedia event featuring a recently rediscovered sketchbook by renowned 20th-century artist Wassily Kandinsky, displayed at the Schumacher Gallery. This visual experience will be further enhanced by electronic music by Capital students as well as poetry by students-poets — all inspired by Kandinsky’s works on display.
