CarFit: A Safer, More Comfortable Ride

Join us on Friday, April 10, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for CarFit, a free, drive-thru program sponsored by the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging. Trained volunteers will provide a quick “checkup” to ensure your vehicle is properly adjusted for maximum comfort and safety—checking everything from seatbelt placement to mirror positioning. Participants will also receive helpful tips and resources designed especially for mature drivers.

Monthly Bexley Historical Society Meeting

This practice offers simple, easy to learn, self-empowering exercises for bringing your emotions and body into balance. These varied exercises can be lifting and energizing or calming and sedating so you can tailor your daily practice to what is needed in the moment. When practiced regularly with conscious breathing and mindful awareness, qigong stimulates the body’s inherent healing energy and fosters its healthful flow throughout the body.

So many forms of writing are scripts: plays and movies and TV, of course, but also comic books, podcasts, TikToks, and more. In this workshop, we’ll explore the fundamentals of scriptwriting, from what a script looks like, the tools and power of writing for audio/visual media, and what makes dialogue click. We'll read samples from a variety of scripts, experiment with different techniques, and then draft mini-scripts of our own. Perfect for beginners or writers curious about a new form.

Explore a Fairy House Trail at Commonwealth Park and find houses that Bexley's fairies, gnomes, and sprites have created! Bexley is an architectural treasure! The beauty and charm of its residential neighborhoods reflects an inspired era in residential architecture that is both timeless and enduring. The period between 1910 and 1930 saw an explosion in popular architectural styles that coincided with the development of Bexley as a first ring suburb, an alternative to living “in the city.” Come and explore with us the evolution of architectural styles from the early beginnings of Columbus and its newly created downtown to and beyond the rapidly developing Bexley area between 1910-1930. You will also learn how to “deconstruct” architectural design: what are the key elements and composition of a design that make it appealing to the eye and what principles and rules help create harmony and balance (both for a specific house as well as within the context of its neighborhood).

Join us to celebrate Asian & Pacific Islander Heritage Month with food, culture, and art!

This is a free, public event with no admission fee or ticket necessary, and is co-hosted by Bexley Minority Parent Alliance and Bexley Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. This event is also made possible with generous grant funding from the Bexley Community Foundation and the Bexley Celebrations Association.

Join us for a science block party fun filled evening of research projects, hands-on science activities, robotics, inflatables, music and food trucks from 6:00-8:00pm. This event will take place on Capital University's front lawn along E. Main St. between College Ave. and Drexel Ave. Parking will be available on side streets and any Capital parking lots that are not permit only.

Monthly on the first Saturday of the month*, join volunteer bike mechanics and learn how to repair your own bike as well as bikes that are donated for kids and families that need them. If you would like to donate a bike to the Bexley Re:Cycle Bikes program, you can bring it to the open workshop dates, or you can drop it at 812 College Avenue. Join us for the soft opening of the Bexley Skate Park on Monday, May 4th at 5p.  The Skate Park is located in Schneider Park along Alum Creek.  Visitors should use the Schneider Park Athletic Field parking lot (Located by the playground - 2101 Charles St., Bexley, Ohio 43209) and then take the path along the athletic field toward the skate park.

Bexley Teens: Breathe, move and relax during a study break at BPL.  Local yoga enthusiast, Kris Tann, will lead you through a one-hour Astanga-inspired yoga practice that will help you feel grounded while boosting your energy. Our yoga practice will include twists, backbends and balancing poses that will leave you feeling refreshed. Yoga is a precious resource used to create balance throughout the nervous system with the breath—the link between body and mind.  Kris will share about yoga positions that boost energy and yoga positions that promote relaxation. Join us for a home and garden tour of the Heritage Gardens and the Ohio Governor’s Residence on Wednesday, May 13, at 1:30.  Learn about the history of the Residence and visit the gardens to learn more about native plants and the physiographic regions of Ohio. Embarking on its 16th season, the Bexley Farmers Market is where farms meet Main Street! Stock up on fresh-from-the-farm fruits, flowers and vegetables, artisan jams, baked goods and more, and bring the family or a friend to enjoy live music or grab a bite to eat! With strong support from the community, this has grown into a Thursday tradition for many shoppers who enjoy the laid-back neighborhood feel of the market.

The market is open every Thursday from May 16 through October 22 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the corner of Main Street and Dawson Avenue, rain or shine. We encourage shoppers to bring their own bags!

Largemouth Brass is an 8-piece band from Columbus, Ohio, performing, recording, and providing high-energy brass band music to their community.  Whether it’s old school funk, “Second Line” jazz, hip-hop, pop song covers, or their genre-busting original tunes, Largemouth Brass Band is bringing the “Brass Funk” to a stage near you!  The band members teach in central Ohio public schools, universities, and private institutions- they are working to inspire the next generation of musicians while paying tribute to those who paved the way.

The Walk will proceed East down Main Street and cross over the Rainbow Crosswalk (next to the Bexley Public Library), then turning South on Euclaire Avenue and finally turning west on Mound bringing walkers back to Capital University. Event also includes activity booths and raffle prizes.

A practical, honest overview of what it takes to go from “I have an idea” to “I’m holding my book in my hands.” We'll walk through every step of the journey, including how to pitch to agents, how traditional publishing compares to self-publishing, and what it’s really like working with editors and publicists. This workshop is great for writers at any stage, whether you’re just starting out or deep into a draft. Includes a robust Q&A.

The Bexley House & Garden Tour celebrates the distinctive beauty of our community, featuring an inspiring collection of homes and gardens that capture the charm and character of Bexley. From classic Tudors to striking Mid-Century Modern designs, the tour offers a rare peek inside some of the city’s most beloved homes along its signature tree-lined streets.

Hosted by the Bexley Women’s Club, the tour serves as a fundraiser to support scholarships for Bexley-area students.

Spray will Begin Tuesday, June 9 at 9:00 pm for Areas South of Fair Avenue
Franklin County Public Health (FCPH) confirmed that mosquito pools in Bexley in the areas south of Fair Avenue (FCPH splits Bexley into two districts - north of Fair and south of Fair) have tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV). FCPH will be spraying starting at 9:00 pm on Tuesday, June 9, weather permitting. Spraying is generally complete by midnight. To see a spray map, please click here.

To opt out of mosquito spraying, please click here. If you have already filled out a 'Do Not Spray' request form this year, you do not need to submit the form again. 

This spraying will not eliminate all active mosquito species in Bexley. Residents should continue to be vigilant about removing sources of standing water to discourage mosquito population growth. The chemicals being used in this spraying are Permethrin and Piperonyl Butoxide.

Pedal for Pancakes is staged around Commonwealth Park in Bexley, Ohio, with riders completing as many laps as they wish in the allotted time frame. Once a rider has finished their time on the course, they can cruise on up to Jeffrey Mansion where they will enjoy a yummy pancake breakfast and fun activities with family and friends. Would you like to participate in a cooking challenge? Adults and teens (13 and up) can team up for a summer cooking competition featuring stir fry dishes. Spray will Begin Tuesday, August 11 at 9:00 pm for Areas South of Fair Avenue
Franklin County Public Health (FCPH) confirmed that mosquito pools in Bexley in the areas south of Fair Avenue (FCPH splits Bexley into two districts - north of Fair and south of Fair) have tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV). FCPH will be spraying starting at 9:00 pm on Tuesday, August 11, weather permitting. Spraying is generally complete by midnight. To see a spray map, please click here.

To opt out of mosquito spraying, please click here. If you have already filled out a 'Do Not Spray' request form this year, you do not need to submit the form again. 

This spraying will not eliminate all active mosquito species in Bexley. Residents should continue to be vigilant about removing sources of standing water to discourage mosquito population growth. The chemicals being used in this spraying are Permethrin and Piperonyl Butoxide.

We'll close out the 2026 Jazz in the Park season in Havenwood Park with the Arch City Big Band! Since forming in 2020, the Arch City Big Band has played its way into the hearts of Columbus jazz enthusiasts by performing at venues such as:  Franklin Park Conservatory's New Years' Eve Conservatory Aglow; The Big Band Showcase at the Valley Dale Ballroom; St. Brendan's Festival; The German Village Garten Club's Summer Concert Series in Frank Fetch Park; The Hilliard Arts Council Summer Concert Series; and numerous other private and public performances in the Columbus Metropolitan area.    As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, in keeping with our mission to inspire our community to enjoy, pursue, and preserve Big Band Jazz, the Arch City Big Band has provided mini-grants to several youth jazz programs in the Columbus area – a program that we are committed to expanding in the future.  In addition, the Arch City Big Band performs joint concerts with High School Jazz Bands in the area.   The all-volunteer band is made up of professional and experienced musicians, ranging in age from high school students to baby boomers.  The musicians have held various occupations, including engineer, attorney, music teacher, IT professional, social worker, and many more!  This eclectic combination of talent joins together with one common passion – to keep Big Band music alive!

On September 9, at a Special Meeting of City Council, Mayor Kessler announced his intent to resign to pursue a new opportunity with the Columbus Partnership. Mayor Kessler's full announcement and message can be read here. 

Under the Bexley City Charter, City Council is responsible for electing a successor to fill a vacancy in the office of Mayor until the next regular municipal election. With Mayor Kessler’s announcement of his intent to resign, City Council will undertake a process to select Mayor Kessler’s successor. Any elector of the City of Bexley who believes they possess the background, experience, and skills necessary to serve as Mayor is invited to submit a letter of interest and résumé to applications@bexley.org by September 18, 2026 at 11:59 pm. 

Following the application deadline, City Council will review all submissions at the regularly scheduled September 22 meeting and will determine whether any additional steps in the selection process are appropriate. At the special meeting on September 30, 2026, Council anticipates voting to elect the next Mayor immediately after the resignation of Mayor Kessler. You can help the American Red Cross make sure that supply meets demand.

The Green Bexley Repair Café is a free community event focused on reducing waste by reviving the lost art of repair. Bring items in disrepair and consult with volunteer repair experts about what's not working. If the repair expert can fix your item onsite within a reasonable timeframe, they'll do it free of charge.
