Bike Friendly Bexley
Between the fall of 2019 and the spring of 2021, leaders and residents of Bexley dedicated time and creativity to imagine and plan for a more bicycle friendly community. Clearly creating a more bicycle friendly is a priority, and the 2021 Bike Friendly Bexley Plan helps steer bike infrastructure and education initiatives.
Since it's adoption, a Bike Friendly working group has continued to develop concepts contained in the plan.

The "Calm Corridors" Project is a citizen-initiated project that has been embraced by the City of Bexley, designed to build traffic-calming infrastructure into the corridor that connects Bexley's three elementary schools (Cassingham Road, jogging over to Remington at Sherwood). Some of the proposed infrastructure concepts have included table-top intersections at strategically appropriate points (such as Cassingham and Elm, and Cassingham and Maryland); additional enhancements to intersections along the route; and bike infrastructure such as bike boulevard improvements and dedicated bike lanes where possible. As of late 2024, the corridor is being studied by the City Engineer to determine which of the concepts can feasibly be incorporated, and to provide any additional recommendations.
