Message from AEP Ohio:
We’re working hard to reduce tree-related power outages in Bexley.
We know you love your trees. We love them, too. Unfortunately, trees and power lines don’t always mix well. Over the next several weeks and months, you will see our representatives and tree crews in your neighborhood as we work to improve the reliability of electric service in Bexley.
What you need to know
Fallen trees and branches are one of the most common causes of power outages. That’s why we have a comprehensive program to maintain trees and brush that grow around their power lines and equipment – and it’s been shown to improve the reliability of our service. Since 2009, our efforts have reduced tree-related outages by 93%.
A member of our forestry team may be in your neighborhood marking specific trees for trimming or removal. If trees on your property need to be cut, we will attempt to notify you in person, by phone or with a door hanger before work begins. Our goal is to treat your property with respect and care as we work to improve your electric service.
Did You Know? The trees we trim benefit animals at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium?
In 2021, we launched the Trim to Treat partnership. Through this partnership, some of the trees and branches our forestry crews regularly trim in the Columbus area are donated and delivered to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium to support the animals. The fresh tree trimmings, branches and twigs are not only important to the animals’ diet, but also beneficial for their enrichment.
In the first year of the partnership, our team donated 70 miles of fresh tree trimmings benefitting over 800 animals. For more information on the partnership, visit AEPOhio.com/Trim-to-Treat.
