At 11:59 PM the Bexley Police Department received reports of a group of males breaking into cars near Montrose and Astor traveling in a white sedan. While on patrol, Officers located additional vehicles on Remington and scoured the south end.

Just after midnight around 12:44 AM in the area of 2800 block, Dispatch received a call stating that they observed five males breaking into cars and then fled the area in the same vehicle as described previously with no headlights on. Subsequently while investigating, Officer Johnson was flagged down by a victim in Barclay Square who had the same thing happen and was able to share Ring video.

The three (3) officers on shift conducted multiple traffic stops on suspicious vehicles in the area matching the description and committing traffic offenses, however, none matched the suspects.

The Columbus Police Department (CPD) recovered a white Nissan which was reported as stolen at Claude and Gibson and observed five male suspects in ski masks who later fled on foot and were not apprehended.

There are at least 30 vehicles which have been reported as damaged and we continue to receive additional information while working with CPD who also experienced a significant number of reported incidents during the same time frame. We are encouraging anyone with information or to report damage to contact us at (614) 559-4444.

Additional officers will be deployed this evening to include plain clothes detectives throughout Bexley.
