We want to share information about an incident that occurred during tonight’s Bexley High School football game.
Bexley Police officers were providing security at the game when an officer was made aware of a reported incident between a high school student and a younger male in the men’s restroom. The officer spoke briefly with the student to gather information, with plans to follow up later.
The student became uncooperative, and a school administrator asked him several times to leave the venue. After repeated refusals, the administrator requested police assistance. When the officer attempted to escort the student out, the student resisted. A second officer assisted, and the situation was brought under control without further incident.
No Taser was used, and while no injuries are known to have occurred, the student was provided with medical care at the scene.
This remains an active investigation and will be reviewed by police management to ensure that proper procedures were followed. We appreciate everyone’s understanding and cooperation as we review this incident.
