Mayor Ben’s Four Things Friday – 10/10/25

Friday, Oct 10, 2025 at 4:15 pm

It’s been a wild and wonderful week in the City of Bexley and along with all of the routine City management tasks, I’ve had several special opportunities to enjoy.

Welcome to Bexley, Officer Spradlin!
This week I swore in the newest member of our police department, Officer Spradlin. Swearing in ceremonies are one of the biggest honors I have as Mayor, and it never fails to remind me that we have a truly remarkable police department. Officer Spradlin has started field training – if you see her around town say hi!

Class Visits at City Hall!
This week hosted two groups of Montrose third graders at City Hall for our mock City Council meeting field trip. As usual, our students proposed some awesome legislation for consideration and our student City Council members did a fine job responding to these requests. Both visits were a whole lot of fun and served to remind us all that Bexley’s future is in very good hands.

Harvest Fest Chili
If you’re headed to Harvest Fest tonight– and with this weather, you absolutely should be – make sure to stop by the food tent and say hi! This years’ chili batch is made with Bexley cherry-smoked brisket, Texas chili style. Swing by and grab a bowl before supplies run out!

Congratulations to Rear Admiral Patrick Hayden
It’s been an honor to celebrate Bexley resident Rear Admiral Patrick Hayden’s career accomplishments over the years, and this weekend we celebrate his retirement at a ceremony at Vet’s Memorial. Please join me in thanking Admiral Hayden for his remarkable service to country and community.

Bonus Thing: A Midsummer Nights’ Dream at Bexley High
While I wish the whole cast of a Midsummer Nights’ Dream great luck on this weekend’s performances, a special shout out goes to Sal Kessler – I mean, Theseus – break a leg, kiddo!
