Mayor Ben’s Four Things Friday – 10/3/25

Friday, Oct 3, 2025 at 4:05 pm

A special treat this week – you’ll hear four things from our rockstar department heads. Enjoy! – BK

From Matt Klingler, Director of Building and Planning:The Building and Zoning department has been busy revamping our code enforcement process, working to make our enforcement process clear and friendly. So if you spot our code enforcement officers out and about, be sure to smile and wave to them as they go about their day. And if you receive a code enforcement letter and you have questions or need more time to remedy an issue, please email codeenforcement@bexley.org. We’re here to help! Once you’ve resolved an issue, please email us with a picture signaling us that a follow up inspection is not required. Thanks for helping us keep Bexley safe and beautiful for all!

From Bexley Police Chief Chief Gary Lewis:
Over the past few weeks the men and women of the Bexley Police Department have been working diligently at keeping our community safe with an increased presence at our schools and our synagogues during the observation of the Jewish High Holidays. Thank you BPD for the unwavering commitment to safety and security!

From Karrie Martin, Finance Director:Budgets in Bexley? Bit by Bit, We’re Making it Fit! Budget season is here in Bexley – and City leaders are busy tackling our annual puzzle of funding key priorities and big-picture projects while maintaining fiscal health through the creation of a responsible and balanced budget. The Finance Department, and other City leaders, are hard at work on the budget building phase of the 2026 budget to ensure Bexley continues to provide excellent city services, move forward on strategic plans, and maintain a healthy fiscal outlook.  Together, we’re setting the game plan for a strong year ahead.

From Megan Meyer, Director of Administration and Development:Now that you’ve seen the article above about the gas tank removal process at 420 N. Cassady starting next week, you may be asking yourself “when will the construction of The Community Builders (TCB) developments on Cassady and Livingston actually start?” Fun fact – the gas tank removal is just one of the many steps TCB needs to check off their “To Do” list before they close on financing in the spring. Demolition and construction for both sites will then soon follow. For updates on these and other exciting developments in our community at bexley.org/development. And for our senior center enthusiasts, stay tuned for future opportunities to help shape the space plans for our new facility!

Bonus Thing: (Hey, the Mayor can do it, so why shouldn’t I?) Bexley’s many sustainability programs were recognized throughout MORPC’s Sustainability Summit earlier this week. A shout out to our enthusiastic team of green-minded volunteers in attendance and to Bexley-ites Carol Kauffman, Lisa Goldsand, and Elizabeth Ellman who participated as speakers!
