Friday’s wind storm caused widespread damage from downed trees and limbs across more than 60 counties in Ohio, and Bexley was no exception.
To help residents with cleanup on their property, the City has arranged for crews to remove limbs and branches beyond what Rumpke typically accepts. Beginning Monday, city crews will drive every street to collect limbs placed on the tree lawn for pickup.
Please follow these guidelines so we can serve everyone efficiently:
- Place limbs on the tree lawn (the grass strip between the sidewalk and the street).
- Larger limbs are okay — there is no need to cut them into small sections.
- Maximum diameter: 8 inches. Limbs larger than this cannot be processed by our wood chippers.
- Crews will make one pass through the city, generally moving west to east. Once a street has been completed, crews will not be able to return, so please place limbs out by Monday morning.
I want to extend a huge gratitude to our service crews who worked overtime during and after the storm to clear fallen trees and limbs and assist residents dealing with damage.
Some properties remain without power as AEP continues restoration efforts across Bexley and the region. If you are experiencing hardship related to the outage and there is anything I can do to assist, please reach out at mayor@bexley.org.
In the meantime, hang in there, Bexley. And if you see a service worker out helping with cleanup, offer them a smile and a wave of thanks!
– Mayor Ben
