Street Projects Post

Construction Season is in full swing in Bexley and crews are working throughout the week on multiple projects. As a reminder, please use extreme caution when driving, biking, or walking near an active construction area. When driving, please proceed slowly and be prepared to stop when workers are present. We appreciate your patience and care in keeping our crews safe! For more information, check the list below or visit our website.

Montrose Avenue Water Main Replacement
The City of Bexley is beginning the first phase of a water main replacement project on Montrose Avenue. The first phase of the project will begin on Montrose at Main Street, moving south to the alley and then west along the alley toward South Cassingham. Parking restrictions and temporary closures will be posted in the roadways and alleys with active construction. While we will work to maintain access to residences and businesses during the project, there will be occasions when access will not be available, particularly during water main installation involving open trenches. If you have specific concerns about access, please call our Service Department at 614-559-4220.

If your home is in the area of this project, please be sure to mark sprinkler systems and invisible fences located in the City right of way, which includes the tree lawn and the area roughly 5’ beyond the sidewalk. Please also be sure to keep an eye out for future notices and testing. Notices will be placed on your front door to inform you of any special conditions such as a temporary water shut-off during reconnection or temporary closure of a driveway for installation or repair.

Columbia Gas Line Replacements

The Columbia Gas Line Replacement project in the area of Euclaire Avenue, South Cassingham Avenue, Montrose Avenue, and Charles Street in the blocks between Livingston and Charles Street is nearing completion. Several blocks of paving will be scheduled for late summer on streets where excavations and asphalt repairs have been completed. A new gas line replacement project is scheduled to begin in the next few weeks on Gould Road, between Broad Street and Powell Avenue. Notices to residents will be provided by Columbia Gas with more details on that project.

Stanbery Avenue Improvements
Work is nearing completion for the sewer rehabilitation work. There will be some continued work to finish several sections of sewer lining and grouting over the next few weeks. No major impacts to residents are anticipated.

2026 Street Improvements
We are in the process of starting several new street improvement projects for the 2026 season with work anticipated to continue into late fall. Notices will be provided to the residents on each street where work is planned. Some of the streets planned for this year include:

Maryland Avenue between Cassady and Remington
Boston Avenue between Drexel and Columbia
North Parkview Avenue from Broad to Caroline
Elm Avenue from Columbia to Dawson
Fair Avenue from Park to Westland
The alley adjacent to the library between Mound and Main
Schneider Park Multi-Use Path from the Soccer Field Parking lot to the new Skate Park

2026 Sidewalk Improvements
Work to remove and replace the sidewalk panels in the western portion of Bexley, between Cassady Avenue and Alum Creek is scheduled to begin in late July and continue through November. Sidewalk panels to be replaced are currently being marked, and a notice to each residence where work is planned will be provided.

South Remington Road Waterline
Work is continuing for the South Remington Road Waterline Improvements. Notices have been posted for impacted residents and parking restrictions will be posted during this project. Local residents of impacted blocks on Remington will be permitted access with the possibility of some delays depending on the work being performed each day. Please check with the workers on the project if you are trying to access a local residence and need assistance. Please note, due to active construction, lane closures will be in place for the southern eastbound lane of Main Street during workdays. During non-work hours, steel plates and traffic control signs and devices will be in place. Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times on Main Street, but South Remington will be closed south of Main during each workday.
