On Tuesday, November 5, 2025, the Bexley Police Department issued a media release stating that Jimmy Wilson Jr., 22, of Norcross, GA was arrested in Gwinnett, GA following an ongoing investigation of a homicide that occurred on October 20, 2025, at 540 North Cassady Avenue. Investigators said that in conjunction with the Columbus Police Department and the support of the Gwinnett County Police Department, information revealed his location and an arrest was made without incident.
Wilson Jr. is currently being held in Gwinnett County, GA and is awaiting a court appearance and extradition back to Ohio, in which a Grand Jury will be convened to determine the charges. Investigation Background
On October 20, 2025 a pedestrian flagged down a Bexley Police Officer after seeing what appeared to be a body located in the bushes. Investigators, in conjunction with the Ohio Bureau of Investigations (BCI), determined that the victim Demetrese Norvett, 18, of Columbus, OH succumbed after receiving multiple gunshot wounds.
Our condolences are with the family and friends of the deceased. This was the first homicide in Bexley since 2022. Safety continues to be the number one priority of the City of Bexley and Bexley Police Department.
