Here are a few things happening in Bexley that (mostly) aren’t otherwise covered in this week’s Blast. Have a great weekend! – BK
The bid openings for the pedestrian bridge at Schneider Park occurred this week and things are looking good for this project to begin moving forward soon. This bridge promises to add a safer pedestrian and cyclist route and stronger connectivity with the Alum Creek Greenway Trail and our Columbus neighbors. A special thanks to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and Bexley Community Foundation–both awarded generous grants to support this project.
And while you’re waiting to see the bridge construction begin, be sure to check out progress on the Bexley Skate Park, which is located near the bridge site in Schneider Park. Construction on this long-awaited feature (also thanks in part to Bexley Community Foundation funding) is moving along nicely. You can catch a great glimpse of the action at the construction fence just off of the Astor Avenue park access.
If you haven’t had the chance to attend a Trash Talk yet, now is the time to sign up! We’re hosting a Trash Talk on Saturday, October 25 at 9:00 am and this time you’ll have the chance to talk to two elected officials. Council President Monique Lampke will be joining me, so bring your questions and ideas and sign up here!
Slow Down Bexley is off to a tremendous and enthusiastic start. We had an internal meeting this week to assess the project launch and look at next steps. I’m thrilled to report that the community’s response to this new initiative has been robust! Due to this influx of requests and reports, I will ask you all to be patient with our team as we make our way through this initial volley of requests. Bonus thing! The Columbus Marathon will be coming through Bexley this Sunday, and while it’s always a thrill to cheer on the runners, this year, I’m especially excited to root for a member of our City Hall Team, Keonna White. Keonna, we are all cheering you on for race day!
