Here are a few things happening in Bexley that (mostly) aren’t otherwise covered in this week’s Blast. Have a great weekend! – BK

A New Primary Care Option in Bexley
I’m excited to cut the ribbon tonight at 6:00 p.m. for the grand opening of Front Porch Direct Primary Care, a new membership-based practice focused on accessible, relationship-driven primary care opening at 542 S. Drexel. Full disclosure: the physician behind the practice is my rock-star sister, Dr. Anne Marie – so tonight’s ribbon cutting comes with more than a little extra family pride. That said, it’s always great to welcome a new small business and another healthcare option to the Bexley community.

Welcome Officer Angelo Skiver
This week, I had the honor of swearing in Angelo Skiver as Bexley’s newest police officer. Angelo comes to the profession after making a career change from management and putting himself through the Peace Officer Training Academy to pursue a calling in law enforcement. That kind of leap takes courage – and it says a lot about the sense of purpose he’s bringing to the job. We’re proud to welcome him to a department known for professionalism and community policing, and I hope you’ll join me in welcoming Officer Skiver to Bexley.

A New Playground for Jeffrey Park
Early-stage planning is underway to replace the primary playground at Jeffrey Park, and this promises to be a very exciting project. A steering committee is currently interviewing potential design and equipment vendors, and once some initial due diligence is complete we’ll host a public workshop so residents – especially our youngest park experts – can help shape the vision. Jeffrey Park is one of the most beloved gathering places in our community, and we’re looking forward to creating a playground that will serve the next generation of Bexley kids.

State of the Community: In Case You Missed It
Last week’s State of the Community offered a great opportunity to hear from Bexley City Schools, the Bexley Public Library, and the City about what’s ahead for our community. It was a reminder of how much progress happens when our institutions work together toward a shared vision for Bexley’s future. If you weren’t able to attend, you can watch the full presentation here!
